Windows 98 Setup Instructions 1. Installing Dial-Up Networking- Click Start, Settings, then Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs icon.
- Select the Windows Setup page tab.
- Single-click Communications and press the Details button.
- If the Dial-Up Networking item is not checked, select it and click OK.
- Press OK again. You may need your Windows CD-ROM and/or have to restart the system.
2. Setting up the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP Protocol- Click Start, Settings, then Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Verify whether the Dial-Up Adapter is present. If it isn't:
- Click Add then double-click Adapter.
- Select Microsoft and Dial-Up Adapter then click OK.
- Verify the TCP/IP Protocol is present. If it isn't:
- Click Add then Double-click Protocol.
- Select Microsoft and TCP/IP then click OK.
- Click OK. You may need your Windows CD-ROM and/or have to restart the system.
3. Configuring the Dial-up Connection- Double-click the My Computer Icon, which is on the desktop.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
- Type in I.NET.AU for the name of the computer you are dialing.
- Select your modem from the list and press Next.
- Leave the Area Code field Blank and add the I.NET.AU dial-up number 0198 333 669.
- Click Next, then Finish.
- Right-Click the new I.NET.AU icon and select Properties.
- In the Phone number section, set the Use area code and Dialing Properties to NOT checked.
- Click the Server Type page tab.
- The Type of Dial-Up Server should be set to PPP: Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows 98.
- In the Advanced Options Section make sure the settings are as follows:
- ¨ Log on to network
- þ Enable software compression
- ¨ Require encrypted password
- ¨ Require data encryption
- ¨ Record a log file for this connnection
- The Allowed network protocols should be as follows:
- ¨ NetBEUI
- ¨ IPX/SPX Compatible
- þ TCP/IP
- Click OK twice.
4. Dialing up I.NET.AUDouble-click the I.NET.AU icon and enter your username and password.
